Made from pleated polypropylene, folded to maximise surface area inside the housing. Captures rust, dirt, sand, pipe scale and fine particulates entering from the supply main, protecting the carbon stages downstream from sediment loading.
A carbon block infused with polyphosphate crystals — as water passes through, the polyphosphate binds to calcium and magnesium ions, stopping them crystallising into limescale on glass, taps and appliances, without removing or adding minerals to your water. High-density block construction keeps pressure steady, and also reduces trace lead and mercury from ageing pipes.
Coconut shells are charred at high heat, then activated with steam to open up a microporous structure with surface area exceeding 1,000 m²/g — that activation process is what gives the carbon its adsorption power. Compressed into a dense block, it targets chlorine, chloramine, VOCs, trihalomethanes and broader heavy metals. Standard coal-based carbon, used in low-cost filters, has far less capacity to adsorb any of it.
